Ajman Chamber, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Department of Economic Development in Ajman (Ajman DED), organized a workshop titled "Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA)." The objective was to review the opportunities and enablers available to private sector establishments and to shed light on how to benefit from the provisions of the Economic Partnership Agreements. This aims to enhance the competitiveness of national companies and facilitate the access of local products to global markets. The workshop was attended by Ali Rashid Al Kaitoob, Executive Director of the Studies and Investment Development Sector; Khalid Al Shamsi, Director of the Information and Economic Studies Department; and Hindi Obaid Al Matrooshi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Ajman Chamber, alongside government officials, business owners, and officials from private sector establishments that are members of the Ajman Chamber, at the Fairmont Ajman Hotel. The workshop commenced with a speech by Khalid Al Shamsi, who affirmed the importance of the workshop as an interactive platform bringing together government entities and private sector establishments. Its purpose is to discuss growth and expansion opportunities for local companies and to enhance the utilization of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA). This supports the competitiveness of the business environment and boosts the private sector's contribution to economic development, in line with promoting the competitiveness of Ajman’s economy and achieving the Ajman 2030 Vision, which is consistent and aligned with the principles of "We the UAE 2031." He stated, "The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) represent a key pillar upon which the UAE relies to enhance its position in the global economy. They contribute to expanding the scope of trade, investment flows, and opening new markets for national products, in addition to strengthening economic cooperation with partner countries, thereby supporting the growth of intra-regional trade." Khalid Al Shamsi confirmed that the Ajman Chamber seeks to develop trade networks and enhance exports through expansion into global markets. This is achieved through specialized meetings, connecting its private sector members with government entities concerned with export development, diversifying participation in international exhibitions and forums, and working to open new markets for Ajman Chamber’s members from the private sector. For his part, Ahmed Khair Al Balushi, Director of the Competitiveness Office in Ajman at Ajman DED, confirmed that the workshop constitutes an important knowledge platform to familiarize the business community with opportunities for growth and expansion in global markets. It also highlights the advantages provided by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements to support the competitiveness of national companies and increase exports. He stated that the workshop plays an active role in enabling business owners to seize opportunities, increase productivity, and enhance the presence of their products in international markets. Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Trade presented the benefits and opportunities provided by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) and their pivotal role in boosting intra-regional trade and developing exports. An open session was also held to respond to the inquiries of business owners and private sector officials regarding the procedures and facilities that support the growth of local product exports, and the mechanisms for incentivizing companies to benefit from the provisions of the agreements.
