H E Salem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), discussed with H E Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of the Etihad Water and Electricity, ways of joint cooperation between the two parties and opportunities for joint efforts to provide proactive value-added services that support the expansion of the business of private sector establishments from members of the Ajman Chamber, in addition to discussing opportunities to enhance cooperation to take advantage of the UAE's directions in the field of clean and renewable energy The coordination meeting at the headquarters of the Etihad Water and Electricity in Ajman was attended by Nasser Al Dhafri, Executive Director of the Member Support and Innovation Sector at ACCI. The meeting is part of the ACCI's efforts to establishing a participatory approach that ensures the development of flexible future policies and strategies that enhance the contribution of various sectors to increasing Ajman's GDP. The meeting reviewed an overview of the plans and projects of the Etihad Water and Electricity in Ajman, and the efforts exerted to provide a sustainable energy network that adopts the highest standards to keep pace with the successive developments taking place in Ajman, especially in the economic sector and the continuous growth of Ajman's factories as a result of the wise leadership's interest in this vital sector, especially since the industrial membership in Ajman witnessed a growth of 8% to reach 1,308 industrial membership during 2022. The meeting stressed the need to intensify direct communication between ACCI and the Etihad Water and Electricity to monitor the proposals of factory owners and companies as well as ways to benefit from the federal law regulating the connection of distributed renewable energy production units to the electrical grid, with the aim of optimal utilization of the available natural resources to ensure achieving the UAE's directions aimed at reducing carbon emissions. H E Salem Al Suwaidi praised the efforts of the Etihad Water and Electricity and its role in supplying private sector facilities with water and electric power across five emirates, stressing that ACCI is keen to intensify its cooperation with the Etihad Water and Electricity, especially in light of the UAE's preparations to host the World Climate Conference "COP 28". He explained that ACCI seeks to enhance the participation of its members from factories to achieve the UAE's objectives and directions in terms of achieving climate neutrality and reducing emissions that cause climate change, by generalizing best practices and expertise and encouraging innovation in the fields of rationalizing energy consumption in cooperation with its strategic partners, led by the Etihad Water and Electricity.
