Ajman Department of Economic Development meets with Shopping centers

WAM Ajman, 22 May 2011 (WAM) -- Officials at the Ajman Department of Economic Development (ADED) held meeting with managers of shopping malls in the Emirate to discuss ways of cooperation and to identify the centers strategies and plans. The meeting also aimed at briefing the managers about the ADED role in providing facilities and incentives and addressing the challenges and obstacles they face to develop appropriate solution.
This meeting comes within the Department's strategy to enhance the attractiveness of the emirate and develop its economy to attract investors and international companies.
The meeting focused on the role of the ADED in promoting economic in the emirate and stressed on importance of shopping malls in the emirate, which contains more than 150 shops that must have an annual promotional plans to attract customers and increase sales.
The managers and owners of shopping centers said that the studies they conducted have proven that the purchasing power of shoppers is a medium and they look forward government to organize festivals and promotions that include a raffle for cash prizes, cars to increase store sales, in addition to organizing recreational activities and sports that achieve the same purpose.
Managers of shopping centers said that the economic crisis is still affecting the commercial market, demanding hotels and furnished apartments for initiating cooperate and coordination with them to bring the tourist staying with visit the shopping center to increase the sale.
Fatima Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of economic relations and events, said that ADED will be taking all these matters to the necessary attention and make coordination with other government department to unify the efforts to stimulate economic activities in the emirate. She emphasized the importance of shopping malls in the emirate and stressed that ADED will follow-up, of all demands and requirements of the shopping malls, they need to increase sales and increase the number of visitors.
She explained that the ADED has plans for future series and the meeting with the shopping center industry is part of its plan of cooperation and communication with the various economic sectors.
