Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry held the weekly panel discussion under the title” The Role of knowledge Based Economy in the Development of Creativity in Youth “ which was chaired by H.E Abdullah Al Muwaiji , Chairman of Ajman Chamber’s Board of Directors and attended by assistants to the director general and heads of departments and sections at Ajman Chamber .
The panel discussion was presented by Engineer Salim Al Suwaidi, Acting Director General of Ajman Chamber. At the beginning of the panel discussion Al Suwaidi touched on the concept on knowledge based economy, pointing to a number of concepts related to it. Where he defined the concept of creativity and innovation then he went on to define the concept of knowledge; which is a person’s experience and acquired skills through trial or education. Furthermore, he explained that economy is a branch of social science concerned with analyzing production process, distribution and consumption of goods and services.
He also mentioned that there are three key factors to production according to the old production concept and they are: land, labor, capital.
Al Suwaidi summed up those concepts in his definition of knowledge based economy. An economy based on the principle of production and dissemination and use of knowledge as a driving force for economic growth.
After that Al Suwaidi spoke about the model of knowledge based economy according to the World Bank , pointing out to the presence of the key pillars of knowledge based economy in the UAE . And they are : economic incentive, institutional regime , information technology infrastructure , education , human resources and an effective system for creativity and innovation.
Then Al Suwaidi went on to talk about the UAE’ vision and march towards building knowledge based economy according to Emirates Vision 2012.He discussed a summary of the vision underlining the fact that it contains all the elements required to achieved the desired goals . Adding that the UAE was ranked first in building knowledge based economy among GCC countries in 2009.
Acting Director of Ajman chamber of commerce and industry also discussed the topic of the internet and second generation interactive tools.
At the end of his presentation, al suwaidi made a proposal on establishing a committee that incubates the creativity of the youth; contain their creative ideas and utilize them effectively. noting that the most important objective of establishing such committee provide facilities to the creative members of chamber and connected them with people who have the specialized knowledge relevant to innovating products and knowledge services.
In addition to the optimal use and development of knowledge resources. Enrich the literary and artistic arena with marketable literary works and goods and create new job opportunities for nationals in the private sector.
After that the discussion was opened for the audience to participate where they enriched the discussion with questions and explanations that resulted in excellent outcome, one of which was the directives of the Acting Director General of Ajman Chamber to establish a committee to embrace creativity and foster the innovative ideas of the employees of Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry .
At the end of the panel discussion H.E Abdullah Al Muwaiji , Chairman of the Board , expressed his thanks and appreciation to Salim Al Suwaidi , Acting Director General of the Chamber for presenting the theme of the discussion . He also thanked the panelists for their interaction with the subject of the discussion, pointing out that such panel discussions show great results that help develop performance level at Ajman chamber. |
