
Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the weekly seminar under the title "Environmental Economics", conducted by HE Abdullah Al Muwaiji, chairman of the Chamber and wasattended by Ahmed Al-Habib, Director of Humaid Bin Rashid Foundation for Human Development, and Mohammed Bishtawi, the Environmental specialist in the Foundation, and Assistant Director-General of the Chamber of Ajman, directors of departments, heads of departments and the staff members.
Al-Muwaiji welcomed the audience praising the efforts made by the staff members of the Chamber and their interaction to participate in panel discussions organized by the Chamber in order toenhance the level of environmental economic awareness among the staff of the Chamber.
Al-Tayeb Osman, the expert in corporate and institutional excellence in Chamber launched the themes of discussion by defining the concepts of economy and the environment, pointing out that the relationship between them is to harness the economy science in order to optimize the use of environmental resources in all its dimensions to maximize profit and satisfy the humanitarian needs at the lowest cost.
He pointed out that United Arab Emirates is interested in the environment, based on the argument of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “Our environment and our resources are not our own but it is entrusted to us, and we all have a responsibility to care and delivered unscathed from the damage to the generations to come”.
Al- Tayeb stated that UAE is making many efforts to preserve the environment such as create a federal authority to the environment and drafting of legislation to preserve the environment, as well as to develop strategies and action plans.
After that, he talked about the role of Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry to contribute in maintaining a sustainable environment, pointing out some facts about the uses of the Chamber’s papers in the Membership and Transactions Department, as deduced from these results some of the environmental facts, including the fact that the consumption of the Department for papers used in publications is equivalent to 432 trees over the past year. Then, he explained the corrective actions of achieving strategic objectives and reduce the cost of publications through the amendment of some specifications of printing, paper sizes and its thickness so that the user get to use less paper, which means less consumption of trees around the world.
Mohammed Al Janahi, Assistant Director-General of the main services sector expressed thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Membership and Transactions Department on their outstanding efforts and suggestions presented during the panel.
After the discussion panel, HE Al Muwaiji expressed thanks to both Ahmed Habib, the director of the foundation and Mohamed Al Bishtawi , Environmental Media Specialist on their valuable contributions .
